Jazzfest + Brunch for May 5
Fellow young New Orleanians: thanks for turning out to help on May 5, in the wee hours of the second JazzFest Saturday! Our awesome volunteers served 98 guests a delicious choice of (1) an oatmeal bake with a rainbow of cranberries, raisins and blueberry crumble on top or (2) a ham and egg crepe with warm, gooey cheese.
We’ve got photos from the event up on our Facebook page. Please tag yourselves in them! Like the page to stay in-the-know of volunteer opportunities and to connect with other volunteers. We want to see you on June 2 for the next Crescent City Cafe. E-mail volunteer@crescentcitycafe.com to sign up!

Green Eggs & Ham for March 3, 2012
The Crescent City Cafe served up a dose of Dr. Seuss on Saturday, March 3, one day after what would have been his 108th birthday. Our special: Green Eggs and Ham! The meal was also in celebration of the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day and was served with blueberry maple sausage patties.
We also honored departing Volunteer Coordinator Georgia McBride, who accepted a position in Houston and is moving later this month. She’s an original founding partner of the Crescent City Cafe and a huge part of the experience for the last three years. We will miss her!
The 30+volunteers served 90 meals to people in need. To see photos, meet volunteers and stay in-the-kNOw, follow us on Facebook at facebook.com/CrescentCityCafe.
Happy Birthday to Us! Feb. 4, 2012
The Crescent City Cafe was bustling and the volunteers were hustling on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, as we celebrated our third birthday and served one of our highest number of guests yet!
Volunteers were working extra hard as we served 111 guests, and the menu was guests’ choice of either: 1) Quiche Florentine with sausage, topped with heart-shaped tomatoes, or 2) French bread toast with strawberries and cream cheese served with scrambled eggs and grits on the side.
Thanks to our new leaders, Colin Lacy and Lindsay Hamm, and to our many partners, including: Rayne Memorial UMC, St. Charles Ave. Presbyterian Church, Brown’s Dairy, Hope Christian Church’s Connect Bus, and the many agencies around New Orleans that help us advertise the opportunity.
The next Cafe is Saturday, March 3. Sign up to volunteer by emailing volunteer@crescentcitycafe.com. See photos and meet other volunteers by following us on Facebook!
Crescent City Cafe: Jan.7, 2012
The first Cafe of 2012 was delicious! The kitchen crew served up guests’ choice of tasty cornmeal pancakes topped with bacon and apples or brie and apple pastries topped with praline sauce. The leadership of the Cafe gives a shout out to our new leaders, Tyler Gray and Jenna Addis. Great job y’all.
We served 69 guests. Next cafe is Saturday, Feb. 4. Email Volunteer Coordinator Georgia McBride to sign up. In the meantime, keep up with us on Facebook.
